Siege Monster. The Cinder-Scarred Treant deals double damage to objects and structures.
Multiattack The Cinder-Scarred Treant makes two slam attacks.
Slam. Melee Weapon Attack +10 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: (2d6 + 6) bludgeoning damage damage plus (1d6) fire damage.
Fire Breath (Recharge 5-6). The Cinder-Scarred Treant exhales a cone of fire in a 15-foot cone. Each creature in that area must make a DC 15 Dexterity saving throw, taking 9d12+4 fire damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one. Wooden objects within the space are treated as if effects by the cinder-scarred Ignite Object action.
Ignite Objects. As a bonus action the treant magically ignites one or two 5 foot spaces with wooden objects in them it can see within 60 feet of it. The spaces stay lit until the flames are doused or the fuel for the fire is exhausted. Creatures that end their turn within or next to the spaces or next to them take 1d4 fire damage.
A Cinder-Scarred Treant is, in nearly all respects, identical to an awakened treant. Just as varied in size, look, and build as the trees they’re born from. Where a cinder scarred differs is in the charred black wood covering its form, its leaves showering embers from their burning edges, and the furnace like glow coming from its mouth and eyes; twisted in hatred.
A cinder scarred treant is an awakened treant driven mad by the destruction of its wooded home. Fueled by a sense of guilt for not protecting its domain from devastation and a vengeance for those it perceives as those responsible. Unfortunately for most living creatures a cinder-scarred’s intellect has deteriorated to the point of seeing anything that moves as a culprit. The thing that sparks the most ire in the heart of a cinder-scarred, however, is civilization. Cinder-scarred treants rampage across countrysides leaving ashes in their wake. When confronted by those who would block this frenzy, a cinder-scarred releases all of its fury, setting everything it can ablaze, cornering targets within the flames.
Nature DC 12 - Cinder-Scarred are treants driven mad by the destruction of their home. Nothing can stop their rampage.
A cinder-scarred carries no treasure, however if adventurers inspect a felled one they will find a Fire Heart buried in the center of its trunk.
Fire Heart
Cinder-Scarred Treants rampage alone, their arrival may be preceded by terrified fauna fleeing the burning chaos.
Adventurers may find themselves resting in a peaceful and unassuming town, when suddenly they hear commotions coming from outside. The town is being flooded with all kinds of woodland creatures. Rabbits, deer, bears and more are descending on the town. But if the players notice none of the animals are causing any destruction aside from knocking into various objects. They all seem to be passing through the town, albeit with desperate haste. They are running… from something. Moments pass as the initial stampede dies down and slower creatures trickle past. Then a dull and constant roar comes from the direction the animals were running. Not an animalistic roar, but the distinct roar of a raging wildfire.
The challenge of defeating a Cinder-Scarred Treant comes from the maze of fire it creates while in combat. Keep track of where fire is appearing, slowly shrinking bare space as the fight lingers on.
