Lore

Desert Outriders are nomadic raiders specializing in mounted combat. They live their entire lives on the move with their preferred mounts: Desert Riding Lizards. Dressed in light fabrics and sparse leather armors they use the mobility of their mounts as their primary defense.

Their main means of survival in the vast deserts they make home are running down and raiding caravans that attempt to traverse the wastes. Rarely do they bother with stealth, instead making their presence known from a distance, favoring to wear their prey down in the chase over the scorching desert sands. As they approach within range they let loose their spears before finally bounding into close combat with a flurry of leaps and slashes.

Desert Outriders move in loose groups of 4-6 each with their own lizard. Any more would make spoils from raids too far spread out. Though on rare occasions outriders gather in large groups to trade, intermingle, and repair their riding tack and gear before going out again in their small bands.

Knowledge Checks

Insight DC 10 - The group in the distance appear to be a ragtag band of warriors, their approach is threatening.

History DC 15 - Desert Outriders like these gather in large groups on occasion to trade wares and celebrate.

Treasure

Desert Outriders need to travel light to continue their hit and run tactics so what they do have is usually what they carry on their backs: The armor and weapons they use in combat, rations of food and water, and small valuable trinkets they trade later for more food and rations at their larger gatherings.
